Lagos Rules out Hijab in Schools Until Supreme Court Decides

Gboyega Akinsanmi
The Lagos State Government Tuesday said it would not allow the use of Hijab in all its public schools until the Supreme Court “determines an appeal seeking to upturn the decision of a Court of Appeal.”
The state government equally clarified that religious institutions were exempted from paying taxes according to the state laws, though any religious institution engaging in commercial activities was liable to pay taxes accordingly.
The Commissioner for Home Affairs, Dr. Abdulateef Abdulhakeem, speaking on a television programme, said the state government would not enforce the appellate court’s decision on the use of Hijab.
A Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos had on July 2016 unanimously set aside the judgment of a Lagos High Court which banned students in public schools in the state from putting on the Hijab with their school uniforms.
The court presided over by Justice A.B. Gumel held that the appeal was meritorious and should be allowed. Gumel held that the use of the Hijab was an Islamic injunction and also an act of worship, hence it would constitute a violation of the appellants’ rights to stop them from wearing it in public schools.
Dissatisfied with the decision of the appellate court, the state government approached the apex court, challenging the court decision, which reinstated the use of Hijab in the state’s public schools on July 21, 2016.
Confronted with a question on the refusal of the state government to enforce the court decision on the use of Hijab, Abdulhakeem noted that the state government “firmly believes in the rule of law and will continue to uphold it.”
He said the state government did not enforce the judgment of the appellate court, which reinstated the use of Hijab in the public schools on July 21, 2016.
According to the commissioner, the state government is awaiting the decision of the Supreme Court on this matter. We cannot enforce the decision of the lower court until the Supreme Court determines the appeal before it.

JUST IN: President Buhari reacts to Gov. Ortom’s Impeachment

Since 1971 we have been at the forefront of
metrology & continue to pave a way today.
Learn more
The Nigerian Presidency on Tuesday said =that the claims that President Muhammadu Buhari has a hand in the move by minority members of the Benue State House of Assembly to remove the state governor, Samuel Ortom, is False.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina said this in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday. The statement read;
“Even while attending the ECOWAS/ECCAS Summit in Togo, strident attempts were being made to drag President Muhammadu Buhari into the unfolding drama between the executive and the legislature in Benue State.
Statements have been issued by different interest groups, insinuating that the President may have a hand in the development in Benue. This is paranoia at its worst, coming from people who have wittingly positioned themselves against the clean-up of the country, and the way we do things. They prefer business as usual.
President Buhari will never be part of any unconstitutional act, and any attempt to link him with the inglorious past, when minority number of lawmakers impeached governors, will not stick. It will simply be like water off the duck’s back. Those with open minds know this, but those who cavil would rather source everything untoward to the President. It is murky ground in which they are now marooned, as fallout of their resistance to change in the country.
When it suits them, they preach separation of powers and true federalism, and in another breath, they call on the President to interfere brazenly in affairs at state level.
President Buhari will always stand by all that is noble and fair, and will reject attempts to drag him into infamy. People who stoke fires by deliberate acts of omission or commission, and then summon the President to come and put it out will find that this President will be guided by the Constitution at all times, no matter the attempt to entangle him in unwarranted controversies.

Buhari threatens to sack Publicity Secretary

The Publicity Secretary of the Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Sulyman Buhari has tackled the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed over the call for dissolution of its executives.
Buhari said Mohammed does not have the locus standi, adding that Mohammed easily forgot that Nigeria was running a democratic system.
This is contained in a press statement issued by Buhari to journalists in Ilorin, the state capital on Sunday.
Buhari’s statement said, “The Ishola Balogun-Fulani led State Executive Committee of the APC is a product of law and due process.
“It was an executive duly inaugurated by the NEC of the APC as the authentic and legitimate. It’s not a jankara executives that Lai Mohammed and his other irrelvant Abuja-based colleagues wanted unsuccessfully to foist on the party during the last congress.
“Alhaji Lai Mohammed lacks the locus to call for the dissolution of the lawfully elected members of the State Executive Committee of the APC in Kwara. He is neither a member of the State Executive Committee nor a member of the APC National Executive Committee.
“Worst still, he’s not recognised as a leader of the party even in his Oro ancestral home, how much more across Kwara State.
“A man that did not attend the last congresses of the APC nor vote during the process does not have the standing to call for the dissolution of the executives that lawfully emerged from thatprocess.
“The tragedy of a character like Lai Mohammed is that they forgot that we are in a democracy where the rule of law reigns supreme.
“No matter how much they try, the only lawfully recognised executives of the APC in Kwara State at the moment is the Balogun Fulani led executives. No amount of name calling and blackmail can change that”.

Sleeping with another man’s wife knowingly or unknowingly attracts some curses or punishments.
Please read the whole of Genesis 20 to get a clear picture of this.
Abraham was in Gerar as a foreigner and he introduced his wife to people as his sister. This could be as a result of fear of the people attacking and killing him or for financial benefits.
The King, Abimelech took interest in Sarah, Abraham’s wife and sent for her to be brought to him.
Mind you, Abimelech did not know that Sarah was Abraham’s wife, he thought she was his sister.
Here is the Punishment he would have had if he had slept with Sarah
Genesis 20:3, “But that night God came to Abimelech in a dream and told him, “You are a dead man”
So the punishment for sleeping with another man’s wife is death, it could be death in career, in business, in relationships or even physical death!
Genesis 20:3B, “…For that woman you have taken is already married!
Wow! The only reason God gave Abimelech is that the woman he took is already married.
In Verse 4-5 of the same chapter… but Abimelech had not slept with her yet, so he said, “Lord, will you destroy an innocent nation? Didn’t Abraham tell me, ‘She is wife my sister’? And she herself said, ‘Yes, he is my brother.’ I acted in complete innocence! My hands are clean.
The only reason God did not punish Abimelech and the entire nation of Gerar was because he had not touched the woman yet, though he had intention to anyway!
And God…in Verse 6 responded, “Yes, I know you are innocent. That’s why I kept you from sinning against me, and why I did not let you touch her.
Oho! Can you see that? God did not want to punish him because of his innocence so He did not allow Abimelech touch Sarah because if he had, whether knowingly or not , then he would have been punished.
Yet men sleep with other men’s wife, they rape other men’s wife without a care on earth! They no longer even hide to do it these days and yet, there’s a great punishment- which is death, for sleeping with another man’s wife.
Like I earlier said, it could be death in physical or in career and business, etc.
If you have slept with another man’s wife, what do you do?
Good Question.
1 John 1:9 wants us to confess our sins and ask for forgiveness and God will forgive u. If u ask u then make sure u dont go back to it again. See, one of things that will let people burn in hell is because every sin we do involves our will power. The devil has no power over to cause u to sin without u involving ur will. If the devil forces people to sin against their will then On the judgement day everybody will be free and only saran will be judged because he forced us to sin. Jesus bought back our will power. So without your involvement you can't sin. I have never seen or heard Satan unzipping a man's trousers to have sex with a woman.
Check the picture below, is it Satan removing the panties of the woman or is the man.? You know the answer.
Now the curse of sleeping with another man’s wife goes beyond just the man alone, now it goes on even unto his family; his children and other household members.
From Genesis 20:8 to the end Abimelech returned Sarah as God instructed, he was pardoned and Abraham prayed for him and he did not die.
Genesis 20:17, Then Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelech, his wife and his female servants, so they could have children. For the Lord had caused all the women to be infertile because of what happened with Abraham’s wife Sarah.
Gentleman, please don't be too bold to touch another man's wife because you will dearly pay for it and your innocent children will also reap what you planted. And the married woman who also stoop so low for a man to touch you whiles you are still married should be very careful because you are sowing a bad seed and you will reap it one day if you don't repent from it

Buhari tells supporters to stop campaigns for his re-election

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday urged his supporters across the country to halt their current campaigns for his re-election.
He said such activities at this time could amount to jumping the gun since the Independent National Electoral Commission has timetable for the electoral process.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, said this in a statement made available to journalists.
Buhari said he appreciated his supporters’ enthusiasm which he said borne out of their desire to garner support for an administration that is actuated by nothing else, other than service for motherland.
He told them that there would be ample opportunity for them to showcase his administration’s achievements and campaign for him when the time comes.
The statement read, “It has been observed that some fervent supporters of President Muhammadu Buhari have begun what may be interpreted as political campaigns in their advocacies and advertisements in the mass media.
“We appreciate their enthusiasm, borne out of desire to garner support for an administration that is actuated by nothing else, other than service for motherland, but we hereby appeal for patience, so that the game can be played according to the rules.
“The Independent National Electoral Commission has a timetable for political campaigns, and we urge committed supporters round the country (and beyond) to be mindful of such.
“There will be ample time ahead to trumpet the good works of the Buhari administration, and solicit re-election, all for the good of our country and her people.
“While a chronicle of the achievements of the administration is in order now, outright canvasing may amount to jumping the gun. We are an administration committed to due process and scrupulous respect for rules, law and order.
“We appreciate our massive supporters nationwide, and urge them to exercise restraint till the race commences officially as stipulated by law.”

Important reasons why you should eat unripe plantain

Businessman, Segun Olaye has made an interesting case for the consumption of unripe plantain by Nigerians

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Ayoola Foods Limited, Mr. Segun Olaye, has advised Nigerians to embrace eating unripe plantain so as to maintain sound health.
He said that was why the company, which specialises in food processing, recently introduced the unripe plantain flour into the market.
He said, “We introduced plantain flour, which is 100 per cent made from unripe plantain, because of its health benefits, because it has so many health benefits.
“You see, Nigerians are now careful of what they eat because as the saying goes, you are what you eat. The unripe plantain flour is a very good food for any age group, demography, gender, body shape. We are using 100 per cent unripe plantain for the product.”
Highlighting the health benefits of unripe plantain, Olaye said, “It has so many vitamins. It contains vitamins B6, C, A. Unripe plantain helps in strengthening the bones because of the high calcium content, helps in enhancing good vision, helps in boosting the immune system and it enhances sexual performance, that is, it boosts libido.
“You can also use it to reduce fat tummy, meaning it helps in losing weight. It also has carbohydrate. People shouldn’t compare an unripe plantain with a ripe one. Once a plantain ripens, the nutrient composition changes.
“The duo have their different benefits, but if you are health conscious, the one you should be eating is unripe plantain. It contains very low sugar, which is why it’s very good for people suffering from diabetes.
“But even if you are not diabetic, unripe plantain is very good so as to control sugar intake because prevention is better than cure. And we have unripe plantain in large quantities in Nigeria, especially in the South.”
