Anambra state commissioner calls for proper sex education in other to reduce the high rate of abortion in the country

The Anambra State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Joe Akabuike, has advocated for proper sex education for students to avoid abortions and their implications

Reports  during `Performance
Monitoring and Accountability 2020 (PMA2020) Abortion Survey’ dissemination workshop for stakeholders in Awka, Akabuike explained that the objective of the workshop was to create awareness to relevant stakeholders on the outcome of `Abortion Survey’ carried out in some states of the Federation.

The commissioner observed that the peak age of abortion was between ages 20 and 21- the post-secondary school or early university age.
He called on youths to avoid abortion, noting that it could lead to injuries to the uterus, bleeding and infections.
Akabuike urged parents and teachers to provide adequate sex education to the young ones to help them to gain information and make healthy decisions on sex.
Akabuike expressed dismay over increase in abortion cases among women and called for proper sensitisation on sex and health education.
He thanked the group for the good job they have undertaken to save lives.
The Principal Investigator PMA2020 Nigeria, Dr Elizabeth Omoluabi, in her presentation, said that prior to the survey, more than six out of 10 abortion cases were considered least safe.
Also, Omoluabi continued, 11 per cent of women experienced complications for which they sought post abortion care at health facilities.
She also observed that from the survey, 75 per cen t of women in rural areas were illiterates and that those in the lowest wealth quartile were the most likely to have an abortion that was considered least safe.
“Most public tertiary and secondary facilities provided post abortion care but only 67 per cent had necessary equipment, medicines and other services.
“Based on self-reported likely abortion data, 19 per cent of women indicated they used multiple methods to terminate their pregnancy.
“Altogether 36 per cent underwent surgery to ultimately terminate their pregnancy, 7 percent used misoprostol and the remaining 57 per cent used unspecified medications or traditional methods for their abortions.
“We are in Anambra because we want all relevant stakeholders to be aware of the rate of abortion in the country and also partner with them in educating the female ones on the dangers.
“The major role that left PMA2020 outstanding among other
researchers is their consistency in bringing the results of this research to the public domain. That calls for intensified action by relevant stakeholders,” she concluded.

Busola oke vows to use lil kesh as scape goat.

A Nigerian Gospel singer Busola Oke popularly recognized as ELEYELE has alleged that keshinro Ololade known as Lil kesh infringed on her copyright with the release of his song," Undertaker ".

She stated that elements of her 15-year-old eponymous single were used in Lil Kesh’s song which was released on February 29.
In a chat with Sunday Scoop , Eleyele fumed that she would make a scapegoat of Lil Kesh. She said, “His manager called me and told me they wanted to use my song and I told them I didn’t understand. I told them that they should discuss whatever they wanted with my lawyer. Later, my lawyer told me that they had called him and that he told them not to use the song. A week later, Lil Kesh’s song was released. I think they had already used the song before they called us. We have been trying to reach him since then. My lawyer wrote to them stating that we were ready to go to court, but we couldn’t find his office address; so, we had to post the letter on social media. Maybe he thinks I’m an illiterate that cannot do anything.”
Decrying the lack of respect artistes have for intellectual property, Eleyele said, “I feel very bad about it because it is getting too common. I think that’s what is in vogue now. But I’m going to end it. I will use Lil Kesh as a scapegoat; I will accept nothing but justice. He will meet me in court.”
Meanwhile, calls put through to Lil Kesh’s management team were not answered, neither were messages replied as of the time of filing this report on Saturday.

Okorocha and 3 other Governors under prob by EFCC

Elitism6Tv reports.

Ahead of may 29,2019 hand over date for the newly elected Governors, the Economic and financial crime commission EFCC has set up teams to probe some Governors accused of corruption.

These Governors include Rochas okorocha of Imo State, Abdul Fatah Ahmed of Kwara State, Abdul Aziz Yari of Zamfara state and Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun state.
Okorocha, who has been suspended by the All Progressives Congress, has been accused of diverting over N1bn meant for the campaign of his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, who contested on the platform of the Action Alliance.
The EFCC said in an interim report that it had arrested the Accountant-General of Imo State, Uzoho Casmir, for allegedly helping Okorocha to launder N1.05bn for the governorship and state House of Assembly elections.
In Zamfara State, the EFCC is investigating Yari for alleged diversion of funds running into billions of naira.
A Federal High Court in Abuja had, in 2017, ordered an interim forfeiture of the sums of N500m and $500,000 said to have been looted from the Paris Club refunds made by the Federal Government in favour of the 36 states of the federation.
The sums of money, said to have been recovered from two firms, First Generation Mortgage Bank Limited, and Gosh Projects Limited, were allegedly linked to Yari.
Ahmed of Kwara State, will also be invited by the EFCC once his tenure comes to an end.
His successor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazak, has also vowed to probe the governor once he loses his immunity.
Ahmed, who is the godson to Senate President Bukola Saraki, was accused of diverting state funds.
Earlier in the month, the EFCC arrested six commissioners and government officials in Kwara State for allegedly diverting N1bn a week before the National Assembly and presidential elections.
Amosun, who has been suspended by the APC, has also come under probe by the commission.
The probe was sequel to a petition written by a group, Committee for the Protection of Peoples Mandate, over an alleged misappropriation of N4bn Anchor Borrowers’ Fund meant for Ogun farmers.
The group, in the petition dated February 20, 2019, alleged that the sum was made available to the Amosun-led government in 2017 by the Central Bank of Nigeria to provide jobs for the residents through the mass production of rice.
It alleged that Amosun staged a jamboree ceremony and set up fake rice pyramids to deceive the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, when he (Emefiele) visited the state last year.
The group further accused the governor of abandoning the project in spite of his promise to establish rice plantations in the three senatorial districts of the state.
