IMSU Gets Full Accreditation For 61 Departments.

Imo State University says that 61 departments of its 64 programs have been fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC). The Vice Chancellor of the great institution, Prof. (Mrs.) Victoria Adaobi Obasi made the disclosure at the university permanent site in Owerri recently.

The yet to be fully accredited departments include: Education Igbo, Optometry and Medicine. All other programs are accredited. According to the erudite scholar, these unaccredited programs already have their full professional accreditation except for that of the National Universities commission (NUC) which allows admitting and graduating of fresh students.

“We have 64 programmes, we have applied for public health department, they’ve been here and we’re waiting for their result. Out of these 64 programmes, we have accreditation in 61; because we had back-to-back interim accreditation in the other 3, they were denied full accreditation.”

The vice chancellor furthered that plans were on top gear to ensure that the remaining 3 programmes were accredited as soon as possible.

“We have written to NUC for them to come back, let me see why we won’t have accreditation in all the 64 departments. Medicine is studied for 6 years nothing more, nothing less” She concluded.
