IMSU Union Clash: Secretary General Reportedly Gets Attacked For kicking Against Sales Of Matriculation Stickers By Dissolved Executives

The 16th republic student union in Imsu whose tenure elapsed in November prior to constitution of 11- man electoral committee to conduct a fresh election have divided against itself and a cross section have reportedly commenced sales of matriculation stickers to recently admitted ahead of the 2017/2018 matriculation ceremony of the school, this media outfit learns.

The new students from Monday 26th February were asked by a faction of the 16th republic to make exorbitant payment of N500 at the student union Secretariat for a gate pass sticker despite being dissolved. The new students have spent a lot revolving around increased acceptance fee among other money demanding discharge to the university to fully secure their admission, the question is who will hear them out.

The 16th Republic Union Secretary known as "Aluta Pen" has risen against the development pointing that it is illegal for a dissipated republic which he is part of to sell matriculation gate pass stickers.  The impracticable comrade have since then come under series of physical clash and encounter but the most recent is with the Union director of welfare at the SUG Secretariat.

According to the controversial comrade, he was confronted and threatened of cult attack by the Union director of socials who accompanied the director of welfare to confront him over his stand on the sales of the matriculation gate pass stickers.

An eye witness who decided to remain anonymous said

"Yea I was at the bookshop watching the incident, It all started at d SUG secretariat where doz involved in selling d sticker came where pen and some senators were seating n discussing and hit him on his chest prompting a noisy quarrel there before Sunky n PC took it to themselves, after some mins d security came in to separate".

Mean while, multiple memos from the Secretary General against the sales was during the week extensively circulated on whatsapp and sent to us. It reads in full:

"On no account should any year one student buy any SUG sticker from any SUG executive on or before the matriculation.

Reasons: Some of them have graduated and are defrauding students of N500

If threatened or embarrassed on any day please call the 16th republic SUG secretary General (PEN).

I stand for JUSTICE
i stand for EQUITY
I stand for FAIRNESS

The second reads thus

"It has come to our notice that there is an ongoing sale of matriculation sticker to our innocent freshmen who are yet to get acquainted with the nitty gritty and settings, rules and regulations guiding the students on campus.

Following the above raised alarm by some of our freshers who were directed to write down their names and pay N500 without collecting any sticker at the SUG secretariat, and have been worried and disturbed over the manner the sale of this matriculation sticker is going, we wish to carefully address the issue on ground surrounding the Students' Union Government. The Students Union Government (SUG), is expected to hold her next election before the Matriculation Day. The SUG election was conducted earlier before the First Semester Examination commenced but declared inconclusive without new leaders emerging.

Currently, arrangements are being made for the election to hold again before the matriculation day. While the 16th republic officials have not properly handed over, the recent chaos rising from who should sale matriculation sticker (either the 16th republic or 17th Republic in view) has raised alot of dust.

For our students to be on the safer side, we hereby direct all our freshers to STOP ANY PLAN OF BUYING MATRICULATION STICKER with immediate effect. Those who will make the distribution of these stickers will be communicated to our various 100 level course reps through their departmental presidents after the issues surrounding the sale of these matriculation stickers have been amicable resolved.
